Brooklyn Cyclones Game + DMF Performance = Another Fun Family Event: Only 50 Tickets Left

We participated in this event twice last year and are excited to be able to do it again in a couple of weeks. I was sure James would freak out going down on the field to sing the anthem in front of so many people, but with the help of some friends (and some very cute cheerleaders) he had a fantastic time!

The setting doesn’t hurt, either. The Brooklyn Cyclones play in Coney Island and their stadium has an ocean view. Add to that the beach, aquarium, boardwalk and even a circus nearby and you could make a day of it – it’s a Wednesday, so not a crowded day, either. And, the stadium is an easy subway ride so no rush hour traffic to worry about. Unfortunately the game this year is at 7:05pm on a school night, so we may have to miss a little bit of school that day (or to sleep in the next day) but I’m sure the kids will live.

DMF sings the anthem on the field before the game and then we all stay and have a blast in a section together. There are only 50 tickets left at the price listed below, but I’m sure you could get tickets on your own as well. If you would like to order tickets or find out more, see the email copied below:

To our friends,

Hope all is well!

Just a reminder that Daniel’s Music Foundation will be singing the National Anthem again at the June 22nd Brooklyn Cyclones game (starts at 7:00PM). Last year was a memorable evening and we decided to do it again and the Cyclones agreed!

The cost of each ticket is $16 and we have only 50 tickets remaining out of 250!  One of our members, Artie Elefant is coordinating this effort. Please contact him directly canarsieboy45@aol.com or on his cell phone at (917) 328-1352 if you are interested in joining us. And of course, you can always contact us at daniel@danielsmusic.org.

We look forward to to seeing you there! Play ball!

Warm regards,

Daniel, Ken, Nancy and Mike

Hope you can make it to this unique, fun opportunity!

I bet that you would have more fun at this concert than anything else you could do today (unless you are on a vacation somewhere tropical or at a spa). It’s not too late to join us! There are a few seats left at the 4pm show, and more left at the 1pm concert today. All of the information and how to reserve tickets can be found in the invitation from the Trush family, copied below:
To our friends,

Hope all is well!

You are cordially invited to join us on Sunday, May 22nd at The Dalton School, 108 East 89th St. (between Lexington and Park Ave.) for one or both of our Music Celebration concerts – 1:00PM-2:30PM and/or 4:00PM-5:30PM.  Our theme for this semester is “Give Our Regards to Broadway – A Musical Celebration.”  Each show will have eleven different performances and will also include a video clip of our Member Leadership Program. We will be performing songs from Guys and Dolls, The Lion King, Mary Poppins, The Sound of Music and Cats, among others, and our members will be introducing props into their songs as well, for the very first time. Should be a wonderful day!

We look forward to having you join us. Please RSVP if you will be able to attend by using Eventbrite – dmfspring2011.eventbrite.com or if you prefer, contact us at daniels@danielsmusic.org or at 212.289.8912.

Help us spread the word and fill both shows (seat capacity 400 at each show), by inviting your family/friends to join us (just let us know so that we can keep track of the number of attendees)! As always, many thanks for being part of the DMF community!

Warm regards,

Daniel, Ken, Nancy and Mike

You can check out http://www.danielsmusic.org for video clips from past concerts. I’ll be there with Ryan and all of the kids (4pm) so make sure to find me and say hi if you’re able to make it. Hope to see you there!

It is my understanding that there are a few seats left at the 4pm show, and more left at the 1pm concert this Sunday. However, both performances are filling up more quickly than ever before, which is really exciting. I encourage you to reserve tickets online to this amazing concert before space runs out! Upcoming meeting reminder – May 6, 2011

Just a reminder that once we are back from Spring break, there will be another meeting at PS 163 on May 6th, at 9a.m. This might be our last meeting of the school year, so please try to attend if you can!

The featured speaker will be Dina Shanowitz of The Friendship Circle (see my separate post). There will be the opportunity to sign up for the Central Park Challenge and the informal social group that meets over the Summer. Also, information about Special Needs Soccer for the Fall and future meeting topics will be available, as well as hard copies of the Summer Activities document I have been handing out at the past few meetings. Lastly, you can RSVP to the fantastic DMF concert on May 22nd at the meeting (see separate post for more details).

Hope to see you there! Keep an eye out for new posts this weekend and early next week – I’ve been home with all three kids for Spring break so my free time is virtually nonexistent.

Happy Easter to all who are celebrating this weekend!

DMF Spring Concert May 22nd – limited seats open to the public!

I am so excited that DMF’s Spring concert is right around the corner! Daniel’s Music Foundation is a non-profit organization that provides free musical instruction to all individuals with disabilities in the NYC area. James has been a member for 2 years and it is one of the most inspiring activities I have had the pleasure to see him participate in. He learns a lot in music every week, has made some great friends and has gained confidence and social skills beyond our expectations. Not to mention that meeting the Trush family alone is worth joining the group.

Some of you were fortunate enough to meet co-founders Ken and Daniel Trush at the March meeting. You also got to see (after much technical difficulty) a brief but inspiring clip from one of the concerts and a live performance by Daniel himself. DMF members put on performances twice a year and after every one I feel amazed, hope-filled and motivated to do better with my own child. Because of growing popularity and an increase in members, Daniel’s Music Foundation will be holding two concerts (instead of one) on May 22nd, at 1pm and 4pm at The Dalton School on the UES. James will be ushering and performing during the 4p.m. concert.

Concerts are usually filled with friends and family, but since there are two performances there will be a limited amount of seats open to the public! The cost is a donation, any amount small or large makes a difference. If you would like to attend one of these fabulous concerts, please email me to RSVP. To learn more about DMF, visit http://www.danielsmusic.org.
