The Foorce

Sushi roll cake, as requested.

Though yesterday was James’s birthday, I was just too busy partying to spend it blogging. We had a jam-packed birthday weekend that kicked off with nothing less than the full sushi experience. 

Or so I thought.

Can you spot the missing item?

A mound of homemade sushi

plus fancy chopsticks

and let’s not forget the hot towels and tea

classy

with pinkies raised

but black tie (and shirt) optional

Come on, there’s a sushi cake… what did I forget?!

As we all sat down to dinner we said grace together and James interjected, “Can I say one thing?

I thank you Lord that I’m here with my mom and dad, my brothers and sister, my fancy sushi experience dinner for my birthday and these nice chopsticks and hot towels and I share it all with you, God. Amen.”

Wow, we’re really going all out for 13, I thought to myself, semi-stunned at the cohesive and poignant stream of words James had just put together.

“Mom?”

“Yes, James.”

“Where’s the ginger?”
